This article is intended for Texas parents to provide more information about the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program.
The TEFA program was established by the Texas Legislature in 2025 to give parents the freedom to choose the best education path for their child’s future. Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, this program will provide participating families with education savings accounts that can be used for approved educational expenses.
Families accepted into the program will be able to direct their funds toward private school tuition, educational expenses for homeschoolers, tutoring, career and technical education programs, and more.
The TEFA Program will be administered by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, with Odyssey serving as the certified educational assistance organization responsible for helping families apply, access their accounts, and pay for approved educational expenses.
Parent applications are expected to open on February 4, 2026.
